Project Elea Makeover

The last week, we have been renovating the office and the science container. Both of them needed a new layer of paint and also the outside had to been cleaned. Before the Christmas break, we put all the furniture from the office in the SOS- container. We did this because the office needed a new floor as well. We divided all the tasks, some people would help in the office, while others would help in the science container. We had exactly 5 days to finish it all before the normal schedule would start again. I decided on helping in the science container.

But of course, this does not mean I didn't help with the office. I did a lot of painting, especially in the science container. First, we painted the walls blue and purple...but right before we finished one of the staff leaders came to tell us that those were the wrong colors. So the next day we had to redo it, this time in white. So while the walls were drying, I painted the office door purple...but this time it was the right color!

On Tuesday we wanted to paint the walls of the science container white, but as we started we noticed the walls were not dry...we figured this out because the brushed turned blue and purple...very smart! So that day we could not paint the science container, so we helped with the bazaar in house Elea. Because of the cold weather, we handed out clothes to children, women, and babies. This was a good success.

The next day, we could finally repaint the science container! The two big walls were painted white, and we could leave the other two small walls in blue and purple. We started off with a great big team, but soon after it was just me and one more guy. It was a lot of work, and we couldn't finish it in the day. Because of the lack of light, painting in the evening is not a good idea, so we stopped at around 6 o'clock. So, at the end of the day, I helped out with the bazaar again. There I was holding the cutest baby ever. She responded really good to music, moving her legs and wiggling her hands.

On Thursday the science container was almost finished, we just had to paint the ceiling and do a second coat of white on the walls. As I was starting on the ceiling, I noticed I was not getting any help from the other volunteers. A lot of them were tired of painting or helping in the office. So, this day went very slow, I had a lot more painting to do eventually then just the ceiling. There were shelves from the office that also needed paint. Soon the white paint was finished. Another volunteer went out for paint but he came back with the wrong kind. This white paint was used for plastic materials, so it didn't stick on the wall...So, unfortunately, this day we didn't finish the science container either.

Friday...today had to be the day to finish the science container, thank God I got some more hands to help me today. We got the right white color this time! We moved all the furniture outside, gave the walls their second coat, painted the shelves and cleaned the floor. At the end of the day, it was finished! Ready to be opened on Monday for the new lessons!

Next week will be the start of the normal program again. They put me in charge of Arts & Crafts and also I will be doing little school every day!

Excited!
